Product Introduction:

Ergothioneine (EGT) is a sulfur-containing amino acid primarily produced by actinobacteria and non-yeast fungi in the basidiomycota and ascomycota families. It was originally isolated from Claviceps purpurea or Epichloe typhina. It is derived from L-histidine, which is converted into a form of betaine called histidine betaine. Ergothioneine is found in both animals and plants, with mammals typically obtaining it through their diet, such as from mushrooms or oats. It is tautomeric in nature and exists in the sulfoxide form in neutral aqueous solutions.

Features:

(1).High Purity
≥98% purity, tested and verified through HPLC.

(2).GMP-Grade Safety
Produced under GMP conditions, suitable for supplements.

(3). Stability
Our Ergothioneine formulation is designed to remain potent and active over time, providing consistent antioxidant support with each dose.

Application Areas:

  • Ergothioneine (EGT) is an antioxidant found in high concentrations in oxidative stress-sensitive tissues such as blood, liver, bone marrow, and semen. It protects cells by scavenging reactive oxygen species (ROS) and reactive nitrogen species (RNS), preventing apoptosis. EGT’s antioxidant activity is primarily attributed to its thiol group. It is a substrate for the SLC22A4 transporter, which helps its uptake into cells.

In alveolar macrophages, EGT inhibits the release of interleukin-8 (IL-8), a pro-inflammatory cytokine triggered by TNF-α. It also plays a role in protecting the liver and kidneys from oxidative damage and helps preserve glutathione and α-tocopherol (vitamin E). EGT is effective in protecting against gamma and UV radiation by scavenging ROS in skin fibroblasts and reducing the expression of MMP1, potentially preventing UV-induced skin aging.
